INTRODUCTION

Art & Craft is an important creative field that plays a significant role in cultural expression, home décor, education, and small-scale entrepreneurship in Pakistan. Traditionally, art and craft skills were learned informally within families or communities. However, with the increasing demand for creative handmade products, decorative items, customized gifts, and artistic designs, structured and professional training has become essential. In recent years, the market for handmade crafts, event decorations, school projects, and customized art products has grown considerably. Social media platforms and online marketplaces have further expanded opportunities for skilled individuals to promote and sell their handmade creations. As a result, competency-based training programs are necessary to ensure quality, creativity, and professional standards in the field of Art & Craft. The Art & Craft (CBT – Level 2) – 6 Months course is designed to develop artistic skills, creativity, and practical knowledge among trainees. This program combines theoretical understanding with hands-on practice, enabling students to create high-quality craft items and artistic projects. The course prepares learners for both employment and self-employment opportunities in the creative industry.

 

PURPOSE OF THE QUALIFICATION

The competency-based Art & Craft (CBT – Level 2) qualification has been developed to train unskilled and semi-skilled individuals in creative and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to become employed or self-employed and improve their income generation opportunities. The purpose of this qualification is to establish professional standards for Art & Craft practitioners who will contribute to the creative and small-scale industry of Pakistan. The specific objectives of developing this qualification are as under:

 

Program Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of how communication shapes patterns of social interaction, the expression of cultural values and norms, political practices and relations of power, and our positions as local and global citizens.

Be able to use a variety of methodological tools to analyze interpersonal, intercultural, and rhetorical discourse that structures everyday interactions in both our public and private lives.

Demonstrate an understanding of the possibilities, problems, and history of discourse and deliberation in democracy and will be prepared to use their knowledge to work for a just and more humane world.

Improve professional competence in art and craft techniques
Develop creativity, design concepts, and artistic expression
Equip trainees with modern CBT training methodologies
Promote entrepreneurship in handmade crafts and creative businesses
Provide flexible pathways for further skill development
Establish a standardized and sustainable system of Art & Craft training in Pakistan
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The entry requirement for Art & Craft (CBT – Level 2) – 6 Months is:
Middle or Matric qualification
Basic drawing or creative skills are preferred; however, beginners with interest and passion for art and craft are encouraged to apply.
